HOW TO CREATE AN E-COMMERCE SITE UTILIZING THE UBERCART MODULE - By Mobolade Ekujumi

Greg instructed us not to create E-commerce sites for the final assignment but for those who might want to explore this function at a later time using Drupal, here is a tutorial on how you can create a fully-functional E-commerce site. First install the Ubercart module. The Ubercart module is great. I installed the module but it did not work properly till i installed the ‘rules’ module and the ‘entity’ module. After installation, getting a product online for sale took less than an hour to complete. The module also Integrates a payment system that acts as a bridge between acceptable payment methods (check, credit card, purchase order, etc.) and payment gateways (CyberSource, Authorize.net, PayPal, etc.).
It can be noticed immediately after installation and all modules are set active, new content types ‘Product and ‘Product kit’ are automatically created for you. Also, the content type ‘categories’ is created in taxonomy so products could be sorted out and grouped.

Sorting is based on taxonomy so organise content into categories based on what you want to sell. Books, Bags, Clothing etc.

To create your catalogue go to Structure –> Taxonomy –> Catalogue (Edit Vocabulary)

To add new products simply go to Content –> Add new content and then pick content type ‘Product’. You will have to pick what category it fits in the catalogue.

It’s that simple. If you publish to front-page here is how your product page would look to the user
